How to Draw an Ewok from Star Wars

How to draw an Ewok

Here's another fun drawing lesson - how to draw an ewok, the furry-yet-fiesty - teddy bear-like creatures, that the rebels encountered, during the final battle with the Galactic Empire, on the planet Endor in Return of the Jedi...

Looking straight on - fairly simple and to the point, I think it would be really fun - if while drawing this character, to refer to some of the other ewoks in the movie, and see if you can make your drawing look different.

OK, let's go ahead and draw!

How to Draw an Ewok

Well, starting out like usual - first thing to do - is come up with a simple framework like the one you see below. And yes again, here it's all about very simple shapes - helping to give us a sense of structure, *before* you start sketching the actual lines...

And next thing - with a different color (something I always like to do in these drawing lessons on the site) - go ahead and mark off those distinct features, which will really tell the observer (when all is said and drawn), that YES, *this* is in fact...

An ewok!

Here's how it looks...

And we're off - fading out the framework lines, and getting down to some of the initial details of our character.

Beginning with the brow, nose and mouth - here's how to draw an ewok...

And then, fading what we just drew - to grey...

Next - go ahead and sketch in the ears, cheeks, teeth, chin, and the lower part of the ewok's hood.

Sort of like this...

More still - draw some additional spiky-hair lines, to bring out the character's arms, a little bit around its belly... oh - and also go down to begin the feet, as well...

Well - it's certainly looking a lot more "ewokish" at this point.

Although, it's still only a likeness. I mean sure, this particular drawing is quite similar to Wicket from the movies. Given the generic form though, you can have all sorts of fun as you progress - changing everything from the weapon, to its fur color and pattern, to size, etc.

Make your character unique!

OK, complete the face now - and sketch in two simplified hands, like so...

And now - completing the the character with just a few more lines - left arm and legs...

We can finally catch a glimpse of what our ewok looks like - black and white lines only, and minus any underlying framework.

Here's what we've got...

Of course, we can't forget color...

And yup - that is all!

There's how to draw an ewok - straight out of one of the best movies of all time.

Hope you had some fun with this lesson - and be sure to come back very soon, for some more cartoon drawing lessons.

Bye for now...

Til next time...
