Drawing Day 2008

Drawing DayDrawing Day is a day where people world-wide and web-wide - drop everything and draw for the sake of art!

Over at DrawingDay.org, you can read and learn about the events that many people throughout the world took part in to celebrate and support the event on June 7th, 2008.

The Internet truly is an amazing thing. It connects many people making the world feel a lot smaller. With so many new, exciting, and diverse ways to share and transfer information (like drawings!), harnessing its power to celebrate the importance of drawing & art is a wonderful idea.

And that's exactly what happened!

The whole idea behind Drawing Day is to 'spread the word' getting as many people aware about the event - and drawing - as possible. Success is measured by the number of people that are not only aware of the event, but by the number of people who take part by drawing pictures and submitting them to the many art communities throughout the Internet.

Here at How-to-Draw-Cartoons-Online.com, I hosted an event to celebrate Drawing Day 2008...

On Saturday June 7th, people uploaded their drawings to the slide show you see on your left.

This event was an effort to contribute in making the first-ever Drawing Day a huge success.

It was awesome seeing people taking the time to create unique drawings of their own and uploading them to the slide show and other art communities throughout the Internet.
In light of the success of Drawing Day, and the event held here at the site, I decided to make the Gallery a permanent feature as I think it's a great way for you to display your cartoon artwork. Click here to view the Cartoon Drawing Gallery.

What's great about Drawing Day is that the event really is 'wide open' as there were (and are) many places to participate. For example, you can...

  • Upload your drawings to photo sights like Flickr.com and social networking sites like Facebook.com and MySpace.com.
  • Showcase your drawings at DeviantArt.com.
  • Create step-by-step videos of you drawing at RateMyDrawings.com and then upload them for rating.
  • Make your own videos of your drawings (or of you drawing) and upload them to YouTube.com.
  • And yes... the list goes on!

All and all, I feel that the first-ever Drawing Day was indeed a success. We've definitely set the pace for next year, and think that again - when enough people spread the word and do their part to participate, then come June 6th, 2009 (June 6th because it's a Saturday) - we'll be even more successful!

Drawing Day And so, definitely plan on seeing another cool event take place here at How-to-Draw-Cartoons-Online.com.

I fully support and look forward to help making Drawing Day 2009 a huge success and even though it's an entire year away, I encourage you to help out too! :-)

And for now, let's get back to creating some more of our own cool cartoon drawings. Be sure to check back at the site every now and then, as the site is constantly growing, with new lessons being added all the time.

Happy Drawing!
