How to Draw Cartoon Heroes
If you're a comic book fan (movies too!) - then drawing cartoon heroes is a great way to go about learning how to draw. Batman, Spiderman, Wolverine... the list goes on and on and on.
In the comic books - the superheroes that we've come to love are drawn to look very realistic, much as how 'real people' should look. Here though, I'd like to change things up a bit and show you how to draw your favorite superheroes in a less complicated 'cartoony' manner.
Every superhero has something unique about them that makes them who they are. Batman? Pointy ears, black cape. Spiderman? Red & blue suit... cool-looking spider mask... and oh yeah - shoots spider webs! And wolverine's is obvious -- super sharp claws!! And same goes for all the other heroes. They've all got some unique 'signature quality' that separates them for the rest.
So how is this helpful with respect to drawing simple cartoons?
Well, so long as we stay focused on those key features - the ones that make Batman - Batman, and Spiderman - Spiderman... we can come up with some really neat-looking, easy-to-draw cartoon heroes.
And while I'd like to focus mainly on the superheroes we already know about, don't hesitate to use the ideas you learn here to come up with some of your own!
On the right you can see, while keeping to the 'superhero look' - I came up with four unique superheroes of my own. From left to right there's The Human Boulder (Yes - he has a boulder for a head), The Rhinoceros Beetle, Magma Girl, and Thermo Kid. See what you can come up with.
Alright, let's get drawing!
