1. What's in Store for this Year?

This year, I'm going to continue to grow the site with many new drawing lessons and categories. If you go to the main page - you'll notice the navigation has more options. Also, if you scroll down the page - each category appears as an image, similar to the Visitor's Gallery.

This will make the site better - as right away, you can easily locate the category you want. Some of the recent new categories include: Robots, Computers and the Internet, Science, Ancient History - and Cartoon Fruit.

Something else I'd really like to get going with - is a proposed community for the site. It's still in the planning phase, but I think it will be a lot of fun when it gets going.

2. How to Draw Cartoon Characters - Update!

The newest website, HowtoDrawCartoonCharacters.com went online on December 1st.

I'm currently working away at the first in-depth cartoon character study, and am aiming to have it completed near the end of January . I'll keep the character itself a surprise for now. I really think this will be helpful - as I go into great detail to show you exactly how to create your very own character.

You can learn all about the new site by clicking on the following link...

3. Learn How to Paint with Watercolors

Some people have asked me about fun and easy methods to learn how to paint. Aside from drawing, painting is a lot of fun - and I recommend starting with watercolors.

An excellent introduction to this style of painting, is a free ebook called Watercolor Secrets by Bob Davies. The book is jam-packed with all sorts of easy-to-follow steps and tips.

I highly recommend you check it out. Again - it's completely free. You're going to learn a lot!

4. Crazy Cartoons!

The 'You Decide' section has worked out really well. I enjoy creating lessons on things that you want to draw. Running this survey every week has really helped make the site even better.

Starting January, I'm going to begin the Crazy Cartoons! section. Again, you can vote for your favorite one - and then I'll draw it.

I think you'll get a lot out of these lessons, as they will help to stimulate creativity and imagination.

5. Biggest Drawing in the World

This is really cool.

Using GPS machines in a briefcase, Erik Nordenankar of Stockholm Sweden made the biggest drawing in the world.

This actually happened in 2008, but I came across it recently and thought you would find it interesting.

For more information, visit Erik's website at the following link...

6. Twitter Updates

Starting today, I'm going to start using Twitter as another method to post new lessons and updates about the site. My username is 'DrawCartoons' - if you'd like to follow what's new at DrawCartoonsOnline.com - and my other sites too!... you can visit the page here...
